Broken Tooth

Teeth are strong, but they’re definitely not invincible! A broken tooth can be quite painful. Besides that, the damage can extend deep into the tooth where the potential consequences are more severe. If you can, try and save any of the broken pieces of your tooth to bring with you on your visit.

Knocked-Out Tooth

After we’ve lost our baby teeth, our adult teeth are meant to last us the rest of our life. It may seem like a pretty tall order but it’s true! If for some reason one of your permanent teeth is knocked out, then that’s definitely a reason to go see a dentist. And the faster the better! If you can locate the knocked-out tooth, gently rinse off the dirt with water or milk without touching the root. Hold the tooth by the crown and try to slip it back into the socket. If this isn’t possible, put it in a cup of milk or hold it in your mouth against your cheek to keep the tooth root alive. The sooner you get to the office, the better chance we have of saving the tooth.

Dental Abscess

An abscessed tooth is one that has a serious infection. Some common signs of a dental abscess are pain, swollen gums, discoloration, bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth. If left to develop, an abscess can even become life-threatening if the infection spreads and causes sepsis!
