How Aligner Therapy Works
Unlike traditional metal braces that pull on teeth, aligner systems use removable trays to push your teeth into new positions. This often results in a gentler treatment. Teeth also move in a more uniform manner throughout your treatment because there is no need for tightening of wires in certain areas of the mouth. Overall, treatment with aligner therapies like Invisalign is faster than traditional braces, and patients love that the trays can be removed for short periods of time.
The Invisalign Processes
Before we begin treatment, we bring in potential Invisalign candidates for a consultation. Our team will sit down with you to talk about your teeth-straightening needs and goals, as well as what orthodontic method is right for you. If we decide that clear aligner therapy is a good option for you, we will take impressions of your teeth and design your dream smile using computer software. This information is sent to the lab, so they know how to create your series of aligners and what the end result should be.
Once your first set of aligners is ready, come back to our office for a quick fitting. As long as everything fits properly, we will send you home with your first set and instructions for use. Make sure that you’re wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours a day so your treatment stays on track. We will also give you a schedule for when to change to the next set of trays and set up your next check-in appointment.
At each check-in, you’ll receive a number of aligner sets. As you work your way through your unique series of aligner trays, you will see your smile getting straighter and straighter. At the end of your treatment, your goal smile will be beaming back at you from the mirror!
